Lumsden & Carroll Construction has worked with Northumbrian Water Limited (NWL), on a strategic partnering basis, on one of their wastewater term maintenance contracts over more than 10 years. The term maintenance contract, currently valued at over £3m per year, has provided continuity in service delivery to the client from the same contractor for more than eight years.
The contract is operated by a dedicated team of Lumsden & Carroll and NWL staff, based at our Bowburn Headquarters. The collective role of the team is to survey, examine, prepare and carry out work packages to maintain the wastewater network throughout the Wear Area.
The Company has recently been awarded two AMP 4 Wastewater Networks Framework Contracts for Northumbrian Water Limited for a period that could extend up to 2011. The combined value of these contracts in the Central Area of the NWL North East Region is approximately £45m.
The Company has developed specialist teams to provide an inspection and operations capability in confined spaces. The work undertaken by these teams ranges from sewer inspections to working in live pipelines and sewage pumping stations. Other works undertaken include tunnel investigation and inspections; provision of safe access to bridge voids for engineering inspections, surveys and repair works. The value of works undertaken by the specialist teams range from £500 up to £20k.
A further specialist area that we have developed over recent years relates to establishing a highway care division that is able to provide additional external resources to a number of Local Authorities in the North East. We have been able to offer a range of skills and experience as and when they have been required, to assist our Local Authority Clients with peaks in demand and gaps in capability.
