Message from John Davies, Managing Director
Lumsden & Carroll Construction is proud of its good Health and Safety record. The Company Health & Safety Policy is constantly reviewed and updated to meet legislative changes and industry developments. Specific Health & Safety training is delivered to employees both in the classroom setting and in the workplace, using external and in-house personnel.
As a member of the Esh Group of Companies, Lumsden & Carroll Construction upholds the same high standards of Health & Safety as all of its Sister Companies.
At the Esh Group we are constantly seeking to ensure that the best health and safety conditions exist on all our sites, in all our buildings and across all our businesses.
We work hard to make sure that our Health and Safety policies are well known, respected and adhered to. In fact, our policies set out the minimum standards we believe are acceptable – our aim is to work above these levels, continuously. By so doing we work to protect the health, safety and welfare of our employes and all our stakeholders – our customers, our suppliers and the general public – within all of the environments in which we operate.
We review our Policy every year, if not more frequently, and our dedicated team of Safety Health and Environmental Managers is constantly on the look out for changes in the law and any other available guidance to ensure that we are always up to date.
We recognise the need to have a strong commitment to the protection of the environment and to minimise waste too. We always aim to be responsible users of resources.
The companies within the Esh Group vary in size and one of our great strengths is sharing information and good practice. As the ultimate responsibility for Health, Safety, Welfare and Environment matters rests with the Managing Director of each Group Company, all benefit from the solid network of support and the sharing culture which prevails.
Team working is the key to much of our success at the Esh Group, therefore we are always alert to the potential for mishap and our pursuit of continual improvement involves everyone in the business; we continue to take our responsibilities and duties very seriously.
In 2008, Lumsden & Carroll commenced its programme to further enhance its total commitment to high standards of Health & Safety by developing an Occupational Health & Safety Management System and achieving accreditation to OHSAS 18001.
