In 1972, the Company started as a partnership between Jack Lumsden, who was born and bred in Esh Winning, and Tony Carroll, who was born in Tipperary, Ireland.
The Company, in its early days, had a workforce of two: Tony and Jack, and an “office” was set up at Jack Lumsden’s home, to price work in the evenings and sort out paperwork at weekends.
To cope with increased workload, Fred Gressmann, Michael Barrigan, Colin Davison, John Hennigan and Derek Rayner joined the Company. Sadly, John has passed away, but the others are still with us more than three decades later.
In 1984, Jack and Tony bought their first office at 65/66 Durham Road, Esh Winning. In the mid 1990s it would be extended into 64 Durham Road.
Brian Manning came to the Company in 1990, to help Tony & Jack lead their business forward from a turnover of £3million. Brian recruited a new management team to help with this task, and the rest is history: but what a history!.
