Location: Stanley, Durham
Contract Value: £1.55 million
Contract Period: June 2006 until December 2006
This scheme involved an extensive earthworks and remediation package including the diversion of an existing stream in conjunction with the Environment Agency and removal of large areas of Japanese Knotweed. The remediation and grouting of existing mine workings uncovered Roman artifacts leading to excavation being undertaken under regulations set out by archaeologists.
Crib walls and a 60m sheet piled wall were constructed as well as concrete retaining basement walls, which required tanking. Existing sewers were grouted with new drainage lines and culvert being constructed. After formation of the new on-site roads, plot works were constructed for the show homes.
A large off-site drainage scheme was also undertaken including Section 278 works under traffic management and liaison with the local authority and new off-site drainage through an existing park opposite the site.
